Introduction
To hype up the release of their comeback after 11 months, Melon created the “SHINee Music Spoiler” event at Olympus Hall on the 14th. A music critic, composer, music program PD, fashion editor, members of the press, and more were present at the event and expressed their interest in SHINee’s new album. The 100 fans in attendance were able to listen to six of the nine new tracks on “Dream Girl” prior to the official release, as well as a song and a medley of three songs from Chapter 2. SHINee put on fantastic live performances and held a brief Q&A session at the event. Two of the directors for the album also made an appearance to give a basic explanation about the concepts and meanings behind the project. Director Lee Sungsoo from SM Entertainment’s producing department shared information about the songs and their meanings, while Director Min Heejin from SM Entertainment’s visual and art directing department introduced SHINee’s visual concept.

Minho: It’s only natural. We’re like real brothers, aren’t we?
Onew: That being said, I’m the older one and yet I feel like there are a lot of times where you’re the one who looks after me… (laughs)
Minho: Nah, you make up for my shortcomings all the time. You’ve always been doing that for me, you know? We were in charge of being MCs for a music show in Korea, right? Didn’t we help each other out a lot that time?
Onew: That’s right. We talked about a lot of things and made the program lively. The two of us really tried hard. We are similar in hating to lose, right? There will rarely be times when my competitive side emerges, but you are always concerned with competing and don’t compromise. I think that’s what makes you manly and cool. But there are times when I also think, “Isn’t he being too passionate?” (laughs). I want to go along with that side of yours. In the end, we’re probably just the same.
Minho: Maybe. I think the part that I’m still lacking in is your funny side.
Onew: I’m a comedian after all (laughs).

Kwanghee has recently bragged about how he’s close with you on <We Got Married> which became a hot topic. Who are the celebrities you’re usually closest to?
Kwanghee hyung’s personality is easy going and very fun. I feel brighter whenever I’m with him so we contact each other often and are friendly. The SHINee members are beyond the friendly scale and they’re just family now. Usually, (Choikang) Changmin hyung, Kyuhyun hyung, and I hang out together a lot. All three of us like alcohol so we occasionally have a drink and talk.

What are SHINee’s plans for this year?
We’re planning around this coming spring so we’ve been recording lately. There’s not much time left (until the comeback). We’re coming back after 1 year since our promotions in the beginning last year. I’m extremely looking forward to SHINee’s promotions this year. We have shown many sides of ourselves as 5 year old artists, but now our mission is to show a different kind of refreshing image. I believe we’ll be able to show off a new image this year as well. For some reason, I have a feeling we’ll receive a good outcome.

Will you continue to act this year?
I want to work on a lot of projects this year as well. I really feel that I’m still lacking so I have to build up a lot of experiences and I want to get my face out to the public through various projects.

After finishing their solo interviews, everyone started to gather for the group interview. Taemin, who was the last to come among them, was about to sit. At that moment, the chair was pulled behind and he fell on his rear! The staffs were surprised but the members were having a good laugh. Among them, Minho had the expression of a mischievous kid… (laugh). In such a relaxing atmosphere(!?), the interview began.

- This year, you had vigorous Japanese activities along with your first Japan arena tour.
You also released 3 singles. “For 1000 Years, Always be by My Side…” is your first ballad single, isn’t it?
J: I’m glad because I like ballad songs. Please be more attentive during my solo part (laugh).
T: We were filming near Mount Fuji for the MV.
O: It was refreshing to film outdoors. Even the air was nice ♪.
K: With Mount Fuji in the back, filming under the morning sun felt good even though the light was blinding. The snowy view of Mount Fuji was beautiful too~

- Mount Fuji is a place with mystical energy.
O: I guess it’s like Gyeryongsan in Korea. You can get a good “aura” here as well.

Q: What is your ideal Christmas date?
A: Rather than going to a restaurant, I want to make a lot of food together that we usually see in American series like turkey and other difficult dishes (laugh). Then I’d like to go watch the fireworks together.

Q: We heard that you like games. What is the one that you’re into right now?
A: Rather than me liking games, it’s more like playing the same game all the time (laugh). That game is “Winning Eleven” for Play Station. It’s a soccer game. That’s the only game I really play all the time (laugh).

Q: If you were to watch Studio Ghibli films with each member, which ones would it be?

It has been over 1 year and a half since their Japanese debut. How do they feel about their activities up until now?

“I experienced many things and got to enjoy my experiences with a lot of people.” (Onew)

“I made a lot of friends. I’m also glad to be able to learn various details about Japanese culture.” (Jonghyun)

“There’s always something to learn whenever I come to Japan. That’s why I always look forward to it each time.” (Key)

“Through this year and a half we were able to build on a new career venture. I’m happy about it.” (Minho)

“It’s good that the distance between us and Japanese fans is now shortened.” (Taemin)

This interview was done not long after the single “Dazzling Girl” was released. When asked about the song, Jonghyun, representing the 5 of them, answered, “This is a bright and cheerful song, so I wish that this song will be listened to once, every morning.” The other 4 also approved.

“Isn’t it good if you listen to it while making preparations to go out in the morning? Like, when you’re putting on your make-up or choosing your clothes. Since it’s a song about a dazzling girl, I think you’d spend the rest of the day with a bright mood.” (Jonghyun)

We had them answer 12 questions that we prepared in order to catch a glimpse of their personalities at the time. We hope that everyone can enjoy each of their answers and give attention to this group who refreshed the self-proclaimed ‘contemporary band’ concept and took on a new pop sound.

The members were excited, announcing their membership numbers. Key was like, “I’m no 5!” but Minho couldn’t bring himself to declare that his was number 4. I get it, even in Korea 4 is not a good number, right?

When it was Minho’s turn to speak, he had that card in his mouth. Then he turned to Key and used that card to scan Key’s face. Hahaha.. what are you doing right now? Ah, I got it. Is it a key card? A key card, right? A key card to open Key’s heart. It’s already been opened though!

With his card in his hand, he took the mic and talked, showing the card to explain. Then it’s Taemin’s turn and this boy had his card kept well inside the pocket of his clothes. Seeing that, Minho passed Taemin his own card and Taemin just accepted it naturally. Why did he give away his membership card? Why did Taemin accept it willingly? What is it with this 2min?

Imitating the members… Onew was to imitate Minho. He looked down, then looked up. Jonghyun, Key, and Taemin were guessing that the answer was Onew. Minho was loitering around, not saying anything. Then Onew had his two fingers pointing to his eyes then gestured the fingers away, towards the opponents eyes. Then MC had the audience guess who it was and they guessed it right. Minho then came towards Onew to kick him… no, it was a back hug!

Right after the event started, Jonghyun took off his ear monitors and threw it to the front, then after a while he took it back and put it to his ears. Seemed like it was broken so he signaled to the staff, pointing to his ear. He then went to the staff to fix the situation. Such actions were impressive, but I think the reason it was broken was because you went around jumping during the start.

{NEWS} Jonghyun sends Key a flower wreath for "Catch Me If You Can"

On December 16, Key had his first two shows for the second showing of the “Catch Me If You Can” musical. He plays the lead of Frank, a mischievous con artist, pretending to be a doctor, lawyer, and even an airline pilot in order to make millions of dollars.

Several fansites sent Key their support through flower wreaths and rice wreaths for his first day back as Frankey. While wreaths are usually sent on the opening night, it was discovered that Jonghyun sent Key a flower wreath on the 18th instead.

Jonghyun showed his support and humor through a a small message on the ribbon. The left side of the ribbon reads, “Sorry~! I’m two days late! Jonghyun” and the right reads, “You will want to go to the restroom in the middle of your show.”

Jonghyun: People always think that I’m a cold person when meeting me for the first time because I’m shy with strangers. Then the impression will change as we get along together.
